Accessibility statement for Global Centre on Biodiversity for Climate

This accessibility statement applies to www.gcbc.org.uk.

This website is run by DAI Global.

We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • use browser settings or plugins to change colours, contrast levels and fonts
  • use browser settings or other software to zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible this website is

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

  • Some images open in a “light box” which lacks alternative text on the controls and can display the image smaller not bigger.
  • The page titles use an acronym which may be confusing.
  • The green used throughout has insufficient contrast making it hard for visually impaired users to read the site.
  • Keyboard focus is not accessible on the sub menu which may make it harder to navigate those pages.
  • Animations are always active meaning users who prefer reduced motion may experience difficulties using the site.
  • Heading levels are skipped in places making it harder to navigate and understand the site.
  • The “Contact us” form requires a company, but not a message, which may be confusing and the errors don’t meet gov.uk standards.
  • Higher magnification (above 300%) causes clipping and content to overflow which means visually impaired people may have difficulty understanding and operating the site.
